Marinara Sauce ( Tomato Based Sauce )

Marinara sauce . A tomato based sauce which can be applied to cook Spaghetti or Lasagna.
This dish takes some time as the flavours need a chance to come out and meld together. So the best is to put the marinara sauce in refrigerator at least a day before using

Marinara Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:


1 tablespoonful olive oil

1 small onion,chopped

2 cloves garlic,chopped

1 stalk celery,chopped

1 carrot, peeled and grated

1 28 ounce can diced tomatoes

1 teaspoonful oregano (optional)

1 bay leaf

salt and pepper to taste

1 cup red wine (optional)

1 tablespoonful balsamic vinegar (optional)

1 tablespoonful basil, chopped, (optional)

1 tablespoonful parsley, chopped, (optional)



Cooking Directions:


Heat the oil in a pan.

Add the onions and saute until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and saute until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add celery, carrots, salt and pepper and saute until the vegetables are soft (about 10 minutes).

Add the tomatoes, oregano, bay leaf, salt and pepper, wine, and balsamic vinegar
Simmer uncovered over low heat until the sauce thickens (about 1 hour).
